This garden, planted in the summer of 2002, is 42' in diameter. The lawn, at right, slopes down to a wet area. Special landscape designs were created to take the varying micro-climates into account. Paths, logs and rocks were placed among the plants to break up the garden and provide interest. This photo, taken in September, shows New England Aster in bloom and the seed heads of Big Blue Stem. Black-eyed susan and grasses surround this stump. Young Indian Grass The wet areas, shown above, were planted with sweet Indian plantain, queen-of- the-prairie and other plants that appreciate moist soil.
