Update 2006
Here's the same patio with prairie garden in bloom in the spring of '06.
These mature plants filled in along the pine nugget path by fall of 2005.
Here's the front yard prairie garden in the spring of '06. Note how inviting the path looks now and how well it has become part of the garden.

By the spring of 2006, the plants have filled in around the flagstone retaining walls and features.
By the following spring, the plants have filled in even more and the rock and pine bark path has mellowed. The council ring looks like it's been there forever!
