Deer Buffet

This small sunny garden in Glenco, Illinois is visited on a nightly basis by a pack of hungry deer which comes out of its home in a forest preserve right next door.

Linda and Andy are standing guard in front of what is left of an American Cranberry Bush which was supposed to grow out and fill up the space in front of the white brick chimney.

Good idea, huh?

Two very different flowers with the same shade of blue, are the dainty Harebells, Campanula rotundifolia, (left) which likes it sunny and dry and is less than a foot tall and the Southern Blue Flag Iris, Iris virginica shrevei, which forms a large clump two to three tall in wet places -- like a rain garden.
